Reflective Collars

Every night, while the city sleeps, stray dogs silently move through traffic, looking for food, shelter, or safety. Many of them never make it to the next morning.

One of the most common causes of stray dog deaths is road accidents.
Most drivers don’t even see the dog until it’s too late, especially on dark streets.

But there’s a simple, low-cost tool that can prevent this-

What are Reflective Collars?

It’s a regular collar, but with a reflective strip that shines when light hits it — like when a vehicle’s headlights come on.

So even in pitch darkness, the dog’s neck glows back, warning drivers early enough to slow down or steer away.

 How Reflective Collars Help:
-Prevent deaths from night-time road accidents
-Make strays visible to drivers, bikers, and cyclists
-Helps us identify sterilised or vaccinated dogs
-Humanises them — makes people more likely to care

How Pawprints Uses Them
We’ve started distributing reflective collars to strays in our rescue zones, especially near highways or busy roads, near schools or colony gates and where pups sleep near traffic

Each collar costs ₹70–₹150, depending on size and quality.
They last months — and in that time, they can save a life.

We also mark collars with:
– “Sterilised” / “Vaccinated”
– Contact number
– Pawprints tag (if possible)

Real Story: Simba’s Life Changed

Simba, a white street dog near the bus depot, had already survived one minor hit.
After we put a reflective collar on him, the area’s guards reported fewer near misses, and drivers now slow down when they spot the shine in their headlights.

It’s simple, but it works.

How You Can Help

-Sponsor a set of reflective collars: ₹500 can protect 5–7 dogs
-Volunteer to help us collar friendly strays
-Gift collars to dogs in your colony or apartment area
-Help spread awareness — most people don’t know this even exists

Every Night Is a Risk.

Every Collar Is a Chance.

Reflective collars don’t just glow — they give stray dogs a voice in the dark.
They say: “I’m here. I matter. Please slow down.”

Help us light the streets, one neck at a time.
Help us leave Pawprints that glow.
